Experimental Interactive Session - March 8th

First Ever: Experimental Session for Wisdom of Crowds BI Market Study

Limited Registration! Click to register now!

In conjunction with the launch of our 2011 Edition of The Wisdom of
Crowds Business Intelligence Market Study, I have decided to try something new and (dare I say) innovative.

For a very select group of users, I am going to hold an interactive webinar on March 8th (next week)!

During this session, participants will actually enter their data into the survey (real time) while I talk about the study and the market and respond to any questions.

Once everyone has completed the survey, I will present their aggregated responses back to them instantly!

To my knowledge, this is the first time anyone has done this in the BI market space.

If folks like this approach then I will consider doing more of them.

Here's the link to register. Only BI users will be allowed to participate.

Looking forward to an exciting and informative session!!

Best,

Howard

Wisdom of Crowds BI Market Study (TM) 2011 Edition - is Off and Running

Seems like it was only yesterday that we launched our inaugural edition of the Wisdom of Crowds BI Market Study (TM) in January 2010. The impetus for it emerged from a sense that the world needed a more balanced and real-world approach to understanding the BI market.

So, we took a good idea, combined it with social media and crowd sourcing - and a little market research know how - to create a fresh and important new perspective on the market!

Fast-forward to 2011, and we are officially launching our 2nd Edition of Wisdom of Crowds. And, we have a more ambitious plan than last year. This year we've adding several sections dealing with budget, licensing options, and a technology section - while keeping the time to complete the survey down to ~ 10 minutes. We're also aiming to increase the sample size t
o over 1,000 responses.

So, if you're a BI software user, here's your opportunity -> by completing our survey, you'll get to have your voice heard. Tell us your plans,
your experiences; your opinions. In return, we'll give you a complimentary copy of study findings for your own use.

Like all of our market studies, this is NOT sponsored or influenced by ANY third parties - ensuring an objective and unbiased view of the market.

Just click on this link and become part of an important process to add clarity and insight to the market!!!

Thanks in advance!

Best,

Howard

From Mobility to Wisdom of Crowds

Hello! Thanks for reading my blog and for your continued support!

Our goal continues to be delivering innovative insight into the Business Intelligence and Performance Management markets.

With that in mind, many of you know that we've just published our second Mobile BI Market Study Findings. You'll, no doubt, be reading various press releases and might even attend one of a number of associated webinars in the coming weeks and months.

Even though we just published the Mobile BI Study and it's fresh in our minds, we've started to work feverishly towards the 2011 Edition of the Wisdom of Crowds BI Market Study (TM). Last year's inaugural edition was a huge success and this year we're expanding it to add even more value!

Since January, we've been busy redesigning the survey instrument, testing it, and have "soft launched" it within our core community. I can already tell that we're going to learn a lot about important and emerging trends
in the Business Intelligence industry!

And, like last year, we'll be rating BI software vendors using our trademark 32-criteria assessment model.

The official launch date for data collection (outside of the core community) is February 28th. We'll be posting and tweeting more information closer to that date.

Here's the time line for the study:

  • Instrument creation – 1/18 (completed)
  • Instrument testing & refinement – 2/1 (completed)
  • Soft launch – DAS Core Community – 2/7 (completed)
  • Soft launch – DAS Entire Community – 2/14 (completed)
  • Vendor & Press briefings – 2/22 & 2/23 (completed)
  • Official Launch – 2/28
  • Data collection & validation 2/28 – 4/1
  • Data analysis & documentation – 4/2 – 5/2
  • Findings report released - 5/9

From Our Latest Study: User Importance of Mobile Business Intelligence

Enjoy a "free" nugget of analysis from our latest Mobile BI Market Study.

Those interested in more detail - including vendor rankings - can visit our official website at www.mobile-bi-study.com or email us at
:

User Importance of Mobile Business Intelligence:

As with the original study, we asked our respondents to indicate the importance of Mobile BI to their organizations and found that it remains largely unchanged from six months ago (Figure 5). That this level of interest has been sustained, as organizations have deployed Mobile BI to users, is both significant and encouraging.

And, as suggested in the original report, we believe that we are in the midst of a fundamental “paradigm shift” for Business Intelligence.
